Understanding Potential

Potential can be defined as "what is possible, as opposed to actual; capable of being or becoming; latent excellence or ability that may or may not be developed." If you are a believer, you have been created/designed to manifest God's likeness in the earth. Now that is awesome potential! Notice I used the word designed; designed means it's already there, it just has to come forth.

We tend to limit potential to adding layers of ability, experience, excellence, knowledge, etc. through diligence and effort on our part. As a result, we improve ourselves. However, there is another aspect of potential that is every bit as important, but often overlooked- addition by subtraction. As opposed to adding levels of excellence or ability, we begin to subtract (or strip away) layers of self (flesh) until we get to the core of who we are- individuals created in the image and likeness of God and designed to manifest that likeness.

His glory can be manifested in our churches and communities, as well as in business and the marketplace. Imagine doing business with the discernment and wisdom of God! What would happen if we didn't allow flesh to get in the way of the anointing of God?

How do we get the God within to manifest? By exercising the spiritual disciplines: prayer and fasting, study and meditation, praise and worship. We don't do these things to "become" like Him; we do these things to uncover what is already there. In this regard, potential is not something we reach, but what is revealed. Be sure to visit tomorrow as we delve into the topic "The Spirit of Potential." Grace and Peace!

This is good stuff!!! Everytime I think I've heard it all, God uses Pastor Moss to bring things out of the word that I've overlooked. It is a relevant word - a word that is timely and POWERFUL.

Excellent! I now find myself in the midst of allowing God to strip away the layers of flesh. We don't realize just how many layers there are until we really get into this process and choose to allow our Heavenly Father to do a work in us.

I never really thought about it like that. This was awesome! And I definately understand because by fasting and praying things have been revealed to me so clearly. Had I not fast about certain things...I couldn't have seen it! Learning to understanding my potential is going to make many things clearer for me! This was great!

"Potential is not something we reach, but what is revealed". I had to read this a couple of times to let it sink in. In the past, I have used "potential" as a crutch. Something to use to make me important when a task is at hand but also an excuse as to why certain things haven't manifested. This has given me new insight.

Thanks pastor: To gm: I as well asked God to take all that I don't see out of me!!!!! Boy did he!! But now I can go to next level. How awesome....

To Km: I am the hardest on myself being brought up as one that is of no use or if you do somthing wrong, God won't love you!!! Well phooy on that....Guess what he does!!!

Please don't think that I am infringing on your comments and think that all you have said, I have been there....I had to learn the hard (or easy way) by God himself and the fact that he alone has brought me this far...He has had his hand on me from the womb....
